Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Thursday forecasted rain or thundershowers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind in different parts of the country for the next 24 hrs, commencing from 9am.
"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Mymensingh & Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions," said a BMD bulletin.
Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Khulna and Barishal divisions and the districts of Faridpur, Madaripur, Gopalgonj, Manikganj, Narayanganj, Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj and Chandpur and it may abate from some places, it added.
Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
Trough of westerly low lies over West Bengal to North Bay across Southwestern part of Bangladesh.
Country's highest temperature recorded on Wednesday was 39.5 °C at Chuadanga in Khulna division and lowest temperature recorded on Thursday was 21.3 °C at Sylhet in Sylhet division.
