A man was arrested in Feni district on Thursday night for allegedly raping his 11-year-old daughter in Mirzapur, Tangail.
The suspect, identified as Mozammel Hossain, a CNG-run autorickshaw driver from Gorai-Sakhipur road, is the son of Delaj Mistry from Tetulia Dakshinpara, Rangpur district. He lived with his wife and daughter in a rented house in Gorai Balur Math.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on March 27 when the girl’s mother, a worker at Gorai South East Textile Factory, left for work at 6:10am, leaving her fifth-grade daughter at home.
Upon returning that afternoon, the mother noticed her daughter complaining of pain in sensitive areas. Initially, she provided painkillers, but the girl’s condition did not improve.
On April 5, the girl revealed to her mother that her father had raped her while she was alone at home and threatened to kill her if she spoke about it.
Following the disclosure, the mother filed a rape case against Mozammel at Mirzapur police station on the same day.
Medical examinations confirmed the assault, prompting police action.
Mozammel fled after the case was filed but was apprehended in Feni based on a tip-off.
Mirzapur police station Officer-in-Charge Mosharraf Hossain confirmed that Mozammel was arrested and presented before a Tangail court on Friday morning, after which he was sent to jail.
