The historic Sholakia Eidgah in Kishoreganj will hold the Eid-ul-Fitr jamaat at 10:00am on Monday.
In preparation for the country’s largest Eid congregation, the district administration has intensified security measures to ensure a hassle-free prayer experience for devotees.
Fauzia Khan, deputy commissioner (DC) of Kishoreganj and president of the Sholakia Eidgah Maidan Management Committee, confirmed that all necessary arrangements, including foolproof security measures, are nearly complete.
She said that devotees will only be allowed to bring a cap, prayer mat, and mobile phone, while umbrellas and other items will not be permitted.
To make travel easier, two special trains named Sholakia Express will operate on the Kishoreganj-Mymensingh and Bhairab-Kishoreganj routes.
The Khatib of Boro Bazar Masjid, Mufti Abul Khair Mohammad Saifullah, will lead the Eid prayers.
In his absence, Maulana Zubair Ibn Abdul Hai, a lecturer at Hoybatnagar AU Kamil Madrasa, will conduct the jamaat.
To ensure safety, an extensive security deployment will be in place. Five platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), 1,100 police personnel in uniform and plain clothes, and hundreds of RAB and Ansar members will be stationed in and around the Eidgah.
Law enforcement personnel will also be positioned on nearby rooftops for additional security.
Attendees will have to pass through at least four police checkpoints before entering the ground, while RAB and police teams will monitor movements using binoculars from six watch towers.
Surveillance will also be enhanced with four drones and multiple CCTV cameras.
For emergency response, fire service personnel, a medical team with six ambulances, a police quick response team, and a bomb disposal unit will be on standby.
With these extensive preparations, authorities are committed to ensuring a safe and smooth Eid prayer experience at Sholakia Eidgah.
