Chuadanga recorded the highest temperature of the season at 39.8°C on Friday afternoon.
According to the Chuadanga First-Class Meteorological Observatory, a heat wave has been sweeping the district for the past few days, with temperatures rising, particularly after noon.
Rakibul Hasan, senior observer at the Chuadanga First-Class Weather Observatory, said that a moderate heat wave is currently affecting the district and may persist for several more days.
"The temperature could reach up to 41°C over the next week," he added.
Residents are struggling to cope with the extreme heat, especially during fasting.
Nasir Uddin, a resident of Chuadanga town said: "It's becoming unbearable to endure this heat while fasting. I can't go outside in the afternoon. My head spins from the heat, and my body feels weak."
The situation is even more challenging for low-income workers.
A rickshaw puller, standing at a crossroads in Chuadanga town said: "If I don't work, I won't get food. But it's extremely difficult to pull a rickshaw in this heat after fasting. My throat feels dry and tight."
According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department's (BMD) weather bulletin on Friday, a mild heat wave is sweeping over the Khulna division and the districts of Dhaka, Faridpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Lakshmipur, and Feni.
The heat wave may continue and spread further, the bulletin said.
Daytime temperatures may rise slightly, while nighttime temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged across the country, the bulletin added.
