The government on Tuesday approved separate proposals for procuring some one cargo LNG, 50,000 tons of wheat, and 60,000 tons of fertilizer to meet the growing demands of the country.
The approval came from the 9th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase in this year held on Tuesday at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.
The day's meeting approved a total of four proposals.
Following a proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, the Petrobangla would procure one cargo LNG from M/S Total Energies Gas and Power Limited, London, Meyrin-Geneva Branch, Switzerland from the spot market under DPM method with around Tk787.99 crore where per MMBtu LNG would cost $16.43.
In response to another proposal from the Ministry of Food, the government would procure 50,000 tons of wheat from M/S Aston Agro-Industrial SA, Avenue de la Gare 33, CH-1003, Lausanne, Switzerland with around Tk180.07 crore where per ton wheat would cost $295.21.
Following two separate proposals from the Ministry of Industries, the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) would procure 30,000 tons of bulk granular urea fertilizer from Fertiglobe Distribution Limited, UAE under the 3rd lot for the current fiscal year (FY25) with around Tk159.82 crore where per ton fertilizer would cost $436.67.
The BCIC would procure another consignment of 30,000 tons of bagged granular urea fertilizer from KAFCO, Bangladesh under the 13th lot for the current fiscal year with around Tk150.24 crore with per ton fertilizer costing $410.50.
