On the first day of the second phase of the 58th Bishwa Ijtema of Tablighi Jamaat, a worshipper named Didar Torfadar, 55, passed away at the Ijtema ground.
He was the son of the late Tayeb Ali Talukdar from Bangalgholi village under Labanchara Police Station in Khulna Sadar Upazila.
The second phase of the Ijtema is being attended by followers of Maulana Mohammad Saad Kandhalvi.
Mohammad Sayem, the media coordinator of the second phase of the Ijtema, confirmed the incident.
According to Mohammad Sayem, the media coordinator, Didar Torfadar fell ill due to respiratory distress at 12:15am on Thursday night in Khitta No 41 of Khulna District.
Fellow worshippers immediately took him to Tongi Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital, where the attending doctors declared him dead.
Following the funeral prayer at the Ijtema ground, his body was sent to his native village in the morning.
After Fajr prayer on Friday, Maulana Abdus Sattar delivered a sermon, which was translated by Mufti Azim Uddin.
At 10:30am a separate sermon will be held in the tin-shed area at the northeastern corner of the ground for businessmen, government officials (both active and retired), journalists, and intellectuals.
Additionally, a separate sermon will be delivered at the Jumu’ah prayer pulpit for college and university students and teachers.
On the western side of the ground, three designated sections will accommodate a special sermon for individuals with hearing impairments.
Following Jumu’ah prayer, Maulana Wasiful Islam from Kakrail Mosque will deliver a sermon, while Hafiz Manzur Sahib will speak after Asr prayer.
Their sermons will be translated by Maulana Ruhul Amin.
After Maghrib prayer, Maulana Jamshed will deliver a speech, with Maulana Munir Bin Yusuf providing the translation.
On Saturday, after Asr prayer, a concluding sermon will be followed by weddings conducted without dowry at the Ijtema ground.
