A case has been filed in Comilla's Kotwali Model Police Station regarding the death of Jubo Dal leader Touhidul Islam, 42, who was arrested by the joint forces.
The case, filed by his wife, Yasmin Nahar, names six individuals and includes 25 unidentified suspects.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station, Mohinul Islam, confirmed the registration of the case.
According to the OC, Yasmin Nahar filed a complaint on Wednesday, naming six individuals and accusing 25 others, who remain unidentified.
"The case has been officially registered following the complaint," he said.
The individuals named in the case are Saiful Islam from Pandangor, Tanzil Uddin from Italla, Nazmul Hasan Titu, Khairul Hasan Mahfuz, Saidul Islam Shobuj, and Sohel from Bamail, all located in Comilla Sadar Upazila.
Yasmin Nahar alleges that her husband was murdered due to a land dispute, with the accused acting in concert to carry out the crime.
Earlier, on the night of Monday, Major General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Tariq, GOC of Comilla Cantonment, met with Touhidul's family to assure them of justice in the matter.
Touhidul Islam was taken from his home in Pachthubir by individuals posing as members of the joint forces on January 31.
The following day, he was found injured at the Gomti River embankment and was rescued by police. He was later declared dead at Comilla Medical College Hospital.
Following the incident, the camp commander of the joint forces was immediately removed.
In response, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued a statement confirming that an investigation committee has been formed by the army to probe the matter and that those found guilty will face disciplinary action according to military law.
