The wife and four family members of slain Jubo Dal leader Touhidul Islam met Major General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Tariq, GOC of the 33rd Infantry Division of the Bangladesh Army, at his office on Monday night.
During the meeting, the GOC expressed condolences over Touhidul Islam’s death and assured the family of full support.
He informed them that a judicial investigation was ongoing and that those responsible would be brought to justice swiftly.
He also assured the family that the army would stand by them and provide all necessary assistance for the security and well-being of Touhid’s children.
The family expressed their confidence in these assurances.
Additionally, they demanded that those who filed false complaints leading to the incident be held accountable.
They also said that they were preparing to file a case regarding Touhid’s death.
Md Touhidul Islam, 40, died after being detained by joint forces in Comilla on Friday.
Family members claim he succumbed to inhuman torture, with doctors and relatives noting visible marks of abuse on his body.
