Two businessmen riding a motorcycle were killed after being struck by a train in Gazipur, on Thursday
The tragic accident occurred at around 10pm at the Ambagh (Kholapara) area of the Dhaka-Rajshahi railway line in Gazipur Metropolitan.
The deceased have been identified as Hafizur Rahman Ripon, 45, son of Habibur Rahman, and Mahmudul Hasan Chanchal, 38, son of Salah Uddin Siddique, both residents of Harinchala (Housing) area under Konabari police Station in Gazipur Metropolitan.
Ripon was involved in the scrap business, while Chanchal managed a hospital.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Nadir Uzzaman, in charge of the Joydebpur Railway Junction Police Camp, citing local residents, said that the two businessmen were traveling from Konabari to the Sakashwar area in Kaliakair on their motorcycle.
While crossing the Dhaka-Rajshahi railway line at Ambagh (Kholapara), they were hit by a Dhaka-bound train and died on the spot.
Upon receiving the news, police recovered the bodies from the scene.
As there were no complaints, the bodies were handed over to their families without an autopsy following an application from the relatives.
