PM Tarique moves to ensure passenger safety after Bogra train accident

The prime minister spoke with the DC and SP of Bogra to assess the situation

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has directed local authorities to take all necessary measures to minimize damage and ensure passenger safety following a train accident at Santahar in Bogra amid the Eid homecoming rush.

On Wednesday, nine carriages of the Nilsagar Express, traveling from Dhaka to Nilphamari, derailed at Alamdighi around 2:30pm., injuring more than 100 passengers.

The prime minister spoke with the deputy commissioner and superintendent of police of Bogra to assess the situation, instructing that the derailed train be recovered promptly and passengers be transported to their destinations as soon as possible, according to a statement from his Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon.

He also directed the authorities to provide proper medical care for the injured, restore communications, and implement all necessary measures to ensure passenger safety.
