Organized by the City Corporation and managed by the Creative Publishers' Council, the Amar Ekushey Book Fair in Chittagong is set to begin on February 1.
A preparatory meeting for the fair was held on Tuesday afternoon in the conference room of the City Corporation.
The fair will be held at the Gymnasium Ground of MA Aziz Stadium and will run until February 26.
The meeting brought together publishers, writers, intellectuals, journalists, educators, and cultural organization leaders.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Chittagong City Corporation and the Convenor of the Book Fair Committee, Sheikh Muhammad Tauhidul Islam, presided over the event, with the City Mayor and Chief Adviser of the Book Fair Committee, Dr Shahadat Hossain, attending as the chief guest.
In his speech, the mayor said that this year's Amar Ekushey Book Fair would be inclusive.
He said: "We have taken all-out measures to make the fair vibrant with the participation of readers, writers, publishers, professionals, and the general public. Books are humanity's true companions. The light of books will illuminate our future generations."
