A young man named Abdul Mannan has reportedly died after being beaten by a mob in Naldanga, Natore, on suspicion of theft.
The incident occurred on Sunday night in Samskholshi village under Naldanga upazila.
Locals reported that they noticed the presence of thieves in Mominpur, Naldanga, and made an announcement using the mosque's microphone.
The group of thieves fled the area but later attempted to steal fish from a pond leased by Hasan Ali and Afzal Hossain in Samskholshi village.
When locals became aware of this, they chased the group. While others managed to escape, Mannan was caught and beaten by the mob.
Upon receiving the news, the pond owners rescued Mannan and took him to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Naldanga Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mostafizur Rahman said: “Mannan died due to a mob beating on theft charges. Legal proceedings are underway.”
