Two of the three individuals arrested in connection with the death of Buet student Mohtassim Masud, who was killed in a car accident, have tested positive for drugs.
The drug test was conducted on Friday at Narayanganj General Hospital.
Senior Assistant Police Superintendent Mehedi Islam told media that the drug test was carried out at noon on the three arrested individuals: Mubin Al Mamun, Mirajul Karim, and Asif Chowdhury.
The test results of Mubin and Mirajul came back as "positive."
At around 3am on Friday, Buet student Mohtassim was killed when a private car hit his motorcycle at a police checkpoint in the Purbachal area of Rupganj, Narayanganj.
Two other Buet students, Mehedi Hasan Khan, 22, and Amit Saha, 22, were severely injured in the incident.
The accident occurred near the Nila Market area on the Kuril-Kanchan road in Purbachal.
Following the incident, the victim’s family filed a case at Rupganj police station.
The police later arrested three individuals involved in the incident.
The arrested individuals are: Mubin Al Mamun, 20, the driver of the private car, Mirajul Karim, 22, from Mirpur, and Asif Chowdhury, son of Bahuddin Chowdhury from Uttara 13th Sector. All three are students.
The police have already applied for a five-day remand for interrogation of the suspects, with a hearing scheduled for Sunday.
Meanwhile, Buet students have described the death of Mohtassim Masud as "murder" and have demanded a proper investigation and justice.
They claim that their fellow student was brutally killed by reckless driving.
