A show-cause notice has been issued for using a banner featuring the image of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman instead of the government-mandated banner during the celebration of the Victory Day.
The notice was issued to Md Mokammel Amin Qutubi, the headmaster of Sonai Chari Government Primary School in Chaikshyong Union, No 2, Alikadam Upazila, Bandarban
On Monday, during the Victory Day 2024 celebrations, a banner displaying the image of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was used and exhibited at the educational institution.
This information was confirmed through a show-cause notice signed by Md Mosharraf Hossain Khan, the Primary Education Officer of Alikadam Upazila, on Monday.
The show-cause notice stated: "Instead of using the government-prescribed banner, you have used a banner featuring the image of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at your school. Such conduct amounts to a violation of the Government Employees (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018."
The notice further stated: "In this context, you are requested to submit a satisfactory written explanation to the undersigned within three working days from the receipt of this letter, explaining why a recommendation for departmental action should not be made to the higher authorities against you."
Regarding the issue, Md Mokammel Amin Qutubi, the headteacher of Sonai Chari Government Primary School in Alikadam, said: "There was no directive on whether the image of Bangabandhu could not be used or on the type of banner. The students made this banner, but I will still respond to the show-cause notice."
