The maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted Distant Cautionary Signal No 1 as a deep depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas has moved slightly north-northwestwards and now lies over the same area.

It is likely to move in a north-northwesterly direction and intensify further.
The maximum sustained wind speed within 48km of the deep depression centre is about 50kmph rising to 60kmph in gusts or squalls.
The weather office said the sea will remain rough near the deep depression centre.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and the deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
