A clash occurred between two factions of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in Brahmanbaria due to a dispute over the committee.
Initial reports suggest that the clash was caused by a disagreement regarding the formation of the committee.
Around 20-25 people from both sides were injured, with two in serious condition.
The injured are Burhan Uddin, 21 and Faisal, 27. Burhan Uddin is a student of Brahmanbaria City College.
The incident took place on Saturday on the premises of the District Shilpakala Academy, located near Gov. Model Girls High School in the municipal town.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Brahmanbaria Sadar Police Station, Mohammad Mozzaffor Hossain, confirmed the incident to the media.
According to sources from the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, a meeting was organized inside the Gov. Model Girls High School as per the central committee's directive.
Students from the city and surrounding areas attended the meeting.
During the meeting, a faction became agitated over minor issues related to the formation of the committee.
Eventually, an argument escalated into physical violence, leading to the clash.
As a result, 20-25 individuals from both sides were injured.
Faisal has been admitted to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital, while Burhan has been sent to Brahmanbaria Medical College due to the severity of their injuries.
OC Mozzaffor Hossain said: “The clash occurred over the committee formation. Two individuals were seriously injured in the incident. Neither of the factions has filed a complaint with the police station regarding the matter.”
