A woman garment worker, injured in a clash between law enforcement and workers on Wednesday, died on Sunday morning while undergoing treatment in the ICU of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The deceased, Champa Khatun, was a worker at Generation Next Fashion Limited.

She was a resident of Rangpur district, although her detailed identity has not been revealed.

According to the police, Champa Khatun was injured in the clash on Wednesday and was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Her body has been taken to the morgue of the hospital, Inspector Md Faruk from the Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost said.

Superintendent of Ashulia Industrial Police-1, Md Sarwar Alam, said: "I have heard that Champa Khatun passed away this morning at Dhaka Medical College Hospital while under treatment."

On October 20 and 21, workers from Generation Next Fashion Limited staged a protest at Baipail, demanding the payment of overdue wages and the reopening of the factory.

On the second day of the blockade, the police used water cannons to remove them from the road.

Subsequently, on Wednesday at 11am, they gathered at the Sin Sin intersection in Narsinghpur, Ashulia, and started throwing bricks at various nearby factories.

When the police attempted to intervene, the workers retaliated by throwing bricks at the police, leading to a clash.

The police then used sound grenades and tear gas to disperse the workers.

During this confrontation between the workers and law enforcement, several workers were injured.
