Police have recovered the body of a 10-year-old boy named Rafiq from the Atrai River in the Manda upazila of Naogaon.
The body was retrieved by a diving team from the Manda Fire Service at around 3:30pm on Friday.
Rafiq was the son of Abu Bakkar from the Saraswati Pur village in Mohadevpur upazila.
Sub-Inspector Habib of Manda police station, citing the victim's family, reported that Rafiq had gone swimming in the river with a friend in the Lakshmipur area of Mohadevpur upazila earlier Friday afternoon.
After some time, he could not be found.
The diving team from the Manda Fire Service conducted several hours of search operations before recovering his body from the river.
Rafiq was a student at a madrasa in the Lakshmipur area.
After the recovery of the body, it was handed over to the family following legal procedures.
