Raw chili is currently being sold at consumer level for Tk320 per kg in various markets of Naogaon district.
Within just a few days, the retail price of raw chili has decreased by Tk80 per kg.
According to market reports, raw chili is being sold from farmers to consumers through intermediaries at a cost of Tk60 to Tk70 per kg.
The highest production of raw chili in Naogaon district occurs in the upazilas of Mohadevpur, Badalgachi, Sadar, and Manda.
During this summer season, a total of 965 hectares of land have produced raw chili. From the mentioned area, a total of 1,930 metric tons of chili has been produced this season.
In various markets, farmers are selling chili at prices ranging from Tk250 to Tk260 per kg.
Traders purchase chili from these markets at Tk250 to Tk260 and then sell it to general consumers in Naogaon district and other markets for Tk320 per kg.
This allows traders to earn a profit of Tk60 to Tk70 per kg.
Abul Kalam Azad, Deputy Director of the Agricultural Extension Department in Naogaon, said: "Summer chili is now nearing its end. As the summer chili comes to a close, winter chili will begin to appear in the market. This will lead to a decrease in the price of chili."
"Currently, winter chili is being cultivated on 850 hectares of land in the district," he added.
