Additional IGP Md Matiur Rahman Sheikh has been appointed as the new chief of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Dhaka Metropolain Police.
He assumed his duties at the CID on Wednesday, and held meetings with officers, providing them with various directives.
During the handover ceremony, Additional IGP Kusum Dewan (who has been reassigned to the River Police), DIGs, Additional DIGs, Special Superintendents of Police, and other senior officials were present.
Md Matiur Rahman joined the police service as part of the 12th batch of the BCS (Police) cadre.
Prior to this role, he served as an additional DIG at the Police Staff College for an extended period.
He faced challenges during the previous government but received a promotion to DIG after the change in government.
Following another promotion to Additional IGP, he has now been appointed as the head of CID.
