At least five people were killed and several others were injured in a head-on collision between two buses in Mallikpur on the Faridpur-Khulna highway in Faridpur early on Tuesday.
Karimpur highway police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Salauddin Chowdhury said a passenger bus named Green Express, travelling from Abdullahpur in Dhaka to Jhenaidah, had collided head-on with another passenger bus named Khagrachhari Paribahan, coming from Shyamnagar, Satkhira.
According to the OC, all the deceased were passengers of the Khagrachhari Paribahan bus.
The injured were taken to various hospitals, with 27 of them admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital.
The identities of the victims were not immediately available.
