Two suspected accused have been arrested in connection with murder of BNP leader Kabir Ahmad Sawdagar in Mirsharai of Chittagong.
The arrestees are- Nasir Uddin,38, and Mostafizur Rahman Sohel,32.
They were arrested from the Baraiyarhat municipal area.
Kabir Ahmad's son, Didarul Alam, filed a case (No. 7) with Joarganj police station, mentioning eight names as suspects.
The deceased, Kabir Ahmad, was the former vice president and current member of the BNP committee of Hinguli Union (Ward No 2) in the upazila.
Nasir is the number one accused in the case while Mostafizur is the number four accused.
Joarganj police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) ATM Shifat-ul-Majdar said that Kabir Ahmad had a long-standing dispute with Nasir Uddin and Kamal Uddin over the rental of a shop in the local market, which Kabir owned.
On Thursday evening, a group of 7–8 armed individuals attacked Kabir and hacked him indiscriminately, leaving him dead.
The OC added Kabir Ahmad's body has been sent to Chittagong Medical College (CMCH) for an autopsy.
Efforts to arrest the remaining suspects are ongoing, he added.
