The indefinite Section 144 imposed in Khagrachhari district headquarters has been withdrawn.
The authorities made the announcement on Wednesday afternoon.
Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Md Shahiduzzaman lifted the restrictions at around 3pm, citing the return of normalcy in the area.
The emergency order was issued on Tuesday to prevent further unrest after the murder of a teacher, Hasnat Muhammad Sohail Rana, who was beaten to death around 12:30pm over allegations of rape.
The murder occurred at Khagrachhari Technical School and College, where tensions erupted between different groups following the incident.
The deceased, Abul Hasnat Sohail Rana, was an instructor at the institution.
His killing quickly escalated into a conflict between Pahari and Bangalee communities, leading to attacks and vandalism at various locations.
During the unrest, three journalists were injured while covering the events.
In response to the violence, the district administration imposed Section 144 from 3pm on Tuesday to prevent further escalation. With the situation now reportedly under control, the order has been lifted.
