A student sat in the chair of the headmaster to demand his resignation in Comilla and a photo of this incident has gone viral on social media.
This incident took place at Mohanpur High School in the Debidwar upazila on Wednesday.
The photo started circulating online on Thursday night, sparking various discussions and debates.
According to local sources, students at Mohanpur High School began a class boycott on Wednesday morning, calling for the resignation of headmaster Md Alamgir Hossain over various allegations of misconduct.
They chanted slogans during their protests, claiming that the Headmaster, affiliated with the Awami League, had amassed significant wealth through school funds and should resign voluntarily.
In response to the situation, the Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Debidwar arrived first, followed by the upazila nirbahi officer and the school's president, Nigar Sultana, who brought a contingent of military personnel to the scene.
However, the students remained steadfast in their demand for the Headmaster's resignation.
By around 4:30pm, the headmaster left the school without resigning, aided by the military.
After the headmaster exited, the accused student sat in his chair, took a photo, and posted it on his Facebook, which subsequently went viral.
However, he later stated that he sat in the chair out of emotion and realized that his actions were inappropriate.
He expressed regret and deleted the photo from his Facebook, apologizing for the incident.
Headmaster Kazi Alamgir Hossain denied any connection to Awami League politics and refuted claims about owning two houses in Debidwar, stating that the students could not prove their allegations.
He claimed that there might have been some outside influence causing the students to misunderstand the situation and protest.
Nigar Sultana, the UNO and the president of the school's managing committee, stated that if there are complaints against the headmaster, they will investigate and take appropriate action according to regulations.
However, she condemned the student’s action of posting a photo while sitting in the Headmaster's chair as "sheer audacity" and confirmed that disciplinary measures would be taken, emphasizing that such behavior is unacceptable.
