A youth was killed and at least 20 others were injured in a clash during an Eid-e-Miladunnabi procession in Kuliarchar upazila, Kishoreganj, following an attempted attack on a shrine.
The deceased, Milan Mia, 34, was a resident of East Chhaysuti village.
The incident occurred at the Chhaysuti bus stand area under Chhaysuti Union around 10:30am on Monday.
Kuliarchar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sarwar Jahan confirmed the information.
The clash reportedly broke out between teachers and students of a local madrasa and devotees at the shrine.
According to police and local sources, the madrasa's teachers and students took out a procession on the occasion of Eid-e-Miladunnabi. When the procession reached the Chhaysuti bus stand, some individuals attempted to attack a shrine, leading to a violent confrontation between the madrasa group and the pilgrims.
The clash quickly escalated, with both groups chasing each other. A mosque and a shrine in the area were also vandalized during the violence. Police and army personnel later arrived at the scene to restore order.
