Hasnat Abdullah, coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, has called on the interim government to resign if they fail to fulfill their promises.
He stated: "As long as the constitutional institutions are not restructured, this government will remain in power. The government must work to make essential services such as education, healthcare, and road infrastructure people-oriented. If you cannot reflect the hopes and aspirations of the students and the public, then you should resign."
He made these comments at a discussion meeting organized by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement at the Central Shaheed Minar in Rangamati on Tuesday afternoon.
Hasnat Abdullah added: "We have heard that many members of the current government are preparing to go to Singapore for medical treatment. Let me tell you, instead of going to Singapore, make Bangladesh's healthcare system as good as Singapore's. Otherwise, you will lose the moral right to stay in this government."
He continued: "We believe that the police are necessary to restore order in the state. While some police members have become infamous, this is not the fault of all police officers. We seek their cooperation to restore law and order."
He also commented on the issue of education and healthcare in the hill areas, saying: "There are many issues in the hills. We urge the current government to ensure quality education and improved healthcare there. We have learned that there are substitute teachers in the hills who do not attend schools, affecting the quality of education. We want to ensure that students in remote areas receive the same educational opportunities as those in Dhaka."
Hasnat Abdullah also addressed the lack of ICU facilities in Rangamati, stating: "I have heard that there is not a single ICU facility in Rangamati. I urge the health advisor and the DG to ensure that the healthcare services in the hills are on par with those in the cities."
The discussion meeting also featured remarks from Khan Talat Mahmud Rafi, coordinator of the Chittagong division.
