A vehicle belonging to the controversial S Alam Group has been seized by the police.

The car was confiscated from the parking area of a multi-storey building in the Jamalkhan area of Chittagong city around 10pm on Wednesday.

The vehicle's registration number is Chittagong Metro Ga-11-5344.

According to the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) registration, the car is registered under S Alam's Sonali Logistics. The address provided is Asadganj S Alam Building in the city.

Obaidul Haque, officer-in-charge of Kotwali police station, said that the car was seized from the parking area of a multi-storey building in the Jamalkhan area and brought to the police station based on secret information.

Local sources reported that Manjurul Alam Chowdhury, the President of Kotwali Thana BNP, resides in a flat in the building where the vehicle was seized.

Besides the seized vehicle, two other cars were also spotted there, but they were removed before the police arrived, reports Prothom Alo.

When asked, Manjurul Alam Chowdhury stated that he did not know who parked the car under his building, and that he did not park it himself.

Previously, on August 28, Salahuddin Ahmed, a BNP Standing Committee member and former State Minister for Communications, faced criticism for arriving at a reception in his home area of Pekua, Cox's Bazar, in a vehicle from the S Alam Group. He later apologized for the incident.

Additionally, on the evening of August 29, a video showing 14 luxury cars being removed from a factory in the Kalurghat area went viral. As a result, three BNP leaders, including Abu Sufian, the convener of South District BNP, were issued show-cause notices, and their memberships were suspended.
