Ganosamhati Andolan distributed relief among flood victims in Comilla and Noakhali on Monday.

Relief efforts took place in Paduar Bazar, Ramchandrapur, Jatrapur, and Islampur villages of Baropara Union around 1pm.

A second round of relief was distributed in Haratali village of Alekharchar, near the Bishwa Road, following the distribution in Jatrapur.

Ganosamhati Andolan Chief Coordinator Zonayed Saki was present during the relief distribution.

He emphasized the importance of strengthening relief efforts across the country and ensuring that aid reaches everyone through coordinated efforts.

He also stressed the need for a comprehensive rehabilitation program involving the government, political parties, and non-governmental organizations to minimize flood damage.

Saki highlighted the dual challenges posed by climate change and the decreasing navigability of rivers due to upstream dam construction.

"We cannot overcome these calamities without a long-term political effort to restore and dredge our rivers and canals," he said. "Therefore, we must address natural disasters with both short-term and long-term planning."

Relief operations were also conducted at the Ashwadia Girls School shelter in Sonapur Union of Noakhali district and the surrounding areas.
