Due to heavy rainfall and water from upstream India, Feni's Parshuram, Fulgazi, and Chhagalnaiya upazilas have been hit by the most severe floods in recent history.
Water is rushing through all the breaches in the flood control embankments of the Muhuri, Kahua, and Silonia rivers, submerging one area after another.
As homes and roads become inundated, millions of people are left desperate.
In response to this devastating flood, the Bangladesh Army began rescue operations on Wednesday at 2:30pm.
According to reports, the district administration requested the assistance of the army and Coast Guard to rescue those trapped in the flood-affected areas.
They initiated rescue operations using speedboats.
Additionally, hundreds of volunteers from the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and local volunteer families are providing rescue and food aid.
In the afternoon, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued a statement confirming that the Army has been deployed in Parshuram and Phulgazi in Feni to rescue the flood victims.
Speedboats and helicopters are being used in the rescue operations.
Abdur Rahman, a flood-affected Satkuchia area of Parshuram upazila, said: "I have never seen such a devastating flood in my life. The situation is worsening as the flood intensifies with time. Continuous rainfall is making things worse."
A volunteer named Russell mentioned: "Various volunteer organizations from across the country have brought in aid. However, due to the strong water currents, it’s impossible to reach Parshuram. Nonetheless, our members are trying to work at different points. The continuous rain has caused water to overflow everywhere."
Mohammad Moniruzzaman, an official at the Feni Meteorological Department, said that moderate to heavy rainfall has continued for three days in Feni.
The district recorded 100 millimeters of rainfall in 24 hours up to 12pm on Wednesday. The rainfall is expected to continue for the next 72 hours.
