Following the decision that hearings will be held immediately whenever a bail application is made in a political case, lawyers have rushed to buy bail bonds in Dhaka courts on Tuesday.
Dhaka district judge, metropolitan sessions judge, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, and Chief Judicial Magistrate Court have decided that whenever a bail application is made in a political case, a hearing will be held immediately.
After receiving the news, lawyers began applying for bail for the accused arrested in political cases starting from Tuesday morning.
Since the morning, long queues of lawyers have formed at every booth in the court to buy bail bonds. The decision to hear bail applications was taken during a meeting with lawyers earlier in the morning in the district judge's court meeting room.
Meanwhile, judges are hearing bail applications in a limited capacity. Political cases are being heard in Dhaka's metropolitan sessions judge, district and sessions judge, chief metropolitan, and chief judicial magistrate courts.
Lawyer Ruhul Amin, standing in line to buy a bail bond, said: “One of my clients is in jail in a case of political bribery. A bail hearing is scheduled for Tuesday according to the judge's order. That's why I am standing in line to buy bail bonds in advance.”
No policemen or members of the law enforcement forces have been seen in the lower court premises of Dhaka so far.
