Comilla University (CU) administration has called an emergency syndicate meeting and decided to close the university, instructing students to vacate the dormitories by 5pm on Wednesday, however, the students have outright rejected this decision and are refusing to leave the dormitories.

Following the syndicate's decision at noon on Wednesday, students staged a procession, chanting slogans of "We will not leave the dorms," rejecting the administration's order.

As of the time of this report, students are protesting in front of the administrative building.

Farhad Kawsar, a resident student of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall, said: "We, the student community, reject the university closure and the directive to vacate the dorms, which is intended to suppress the student movement. We will stay in the dorms and continue our struggle until our demands are met."

Marjan Akter, a 15th batch student and resident of Sheikh Hasina Hall, said: "In the current situation, such a decision by the university administration is not reasonable. We will not comply with the order to vacate the dorms under any circumstances."

Tanjina Akter, a student of the Archaeology Department expressed strong condemnation of the administration's decision. "We will no longer remain oppressed. Come what may, we residential students will not leave our dorms.”

“If the administration has any further statements, they can come and talk to us directly in front of the administrative building. It is no longer the time to make decisions from the comfort of an air-conditioned room," she added.

When asked about the directive, the provosts of the five dormitories stated that it was a decision made by the syndicate. They have communicated this to the students on behalf of the syndicate.
