Flood situation improves in Tangail

No new areas were flooded as the water levels in the Jamuna, Dhaleshwari, and Jhenai rivers decreased on Sunday morning

The overall flood situation in Tangail has improved as the water levels in three major rivers dropped further.

Over the past 24 hours, no new areas were flooded as the water levels in the Jamuna, Dhaleshwari, and Jhenai rivers decreased on Sunday morning. 

However, the water levels in the tributaries continue to rise.

Thousands of people remain trapped in the Tangail flood despite the river water starting to recede.

Houses, markets, educational institutions, croplands, and other structures in several upazilas of the district are still submerged under flood waters. Residents of the flood-affected villages are contracting various waterborne diseases.

According to the Tangail Water Development Board, the Jokarchar point's Jhenai River's water level has decreased by 14cm, still 65cm above the danger level. 

The water level at the Elasin point of the Dhaleshwari River has decreased by 8cm, now 15cm above the danger level. The water level at the Porabari point of the Jamuna River has decreased by 12cm, currently flowing 1cm below the danger level.
