A train sent for repairs at the Syedpur Railway Factory in Nilphamari, the largest in the country, derailed, suspending train services from Chilahati through Syedpur to Parbatipur, Khulna, Rajshahi, and others.
The incident occurred around 2:30pm on Saturday near the Syedpur Railway Station, about 200 yards from the railway factory.
Nilphamari Railway Station Master Obaidul Islam confirmed the incident to media.

According to railway sources, the train was brought to the factory for routine maintenance. It had previously operated as a special train on the Joydebpur-Parbatipur route during Eid.
The train consists of 13 boogies, several of which derailed at the rear. Later, all types of trains on the Syedpur-Parbatipur route were suspended. Additionally, the train is stuck at a rail crossing, causing severe traffic congestion in the city. Engineers are working urgently to remove it, they added.
