Correspondents of different media outlets at Pabna University of Science and Technology held a human chain to protest an assault on the Daily Kaler Kantho's Pabna correspondent, Prabir Kumar Saha.
The university’s Press Club president, Abdullah Al Mamun, and General Secretary Zahidul Islam Sohail, among others, spoke at the human chain.
Prabir was assaulted by Zilla Parishad Member Nazrul Islam Sohel and his followers on Monday when he went to the office of the Zilla Parishad CEO.

We request that the administration bring those involved in this attack to justice immediately. Punishment should be given in such a way that no one can raise a hand on any journalist from Pabna city in the future.”
General Secretary Zahidul Islam said: “Attack on any journalist means attacking the entire community. The attack on Prabir has saddened us all.”
Speakers at the human chain alleged that Nazrul Islam and his men attacked the journalist inside the Zilla Parishad office while he was on duty.
As per media reports, Prabir went to the Zilla Parishad office on Monday to meet the chief executive officer. However, the official was at a meeting with Nazrul Islam at the time. When Prabir requested that he would speak to the official after his meeting with Nazrul was over, the latter hurled abuse at him. Then his followers entered the room and assaulted Prabir.
