The Election Commission has postponed the upazila parishad election in Baghaichhari, Rangamati, due to concerns over deteriorating law and order and hostile weather conditions.
Rangamati Senior Election Officer Mohammad Monir Hossain confirmed the information on Saturday.
He said that election materials could not be sent to the remote centres due to bad weather. Additionally, considering the overall law and order situation, the Election Commission decided to postpone the election in Baghaichhari.
Meanwhile, the UPDF is enforcing a morning-to-evening blockade in Baghaichhari on Saturday, over threatening the agents of the Baghaichhari upazila parishad chairman and female vice chairman candidate of Rangamati and demanding fair elections.
