A fire broke out at the Tangail District Awami League office due to a lightning strike that ruptured a Titus Gas transmission pipe, causing Tk30 lakh damage.
The fire damaged five air conditioners, two computers, 16 fans, chairs, tables, and cabinets.
The incident took place in the early hours of Thursday at the Awami League office on the city's main road.
Tangail Fire Service Senior Station Officer Mohammad Idris said that upon receiving the news, two firefighting units rushed to the spot.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
On Thursday morning, leaders and workers of the Awami League visited the office.
Regarding the incident, the General Secretary of the district Awami League, Zohirul Islam Zoar, said that all our office equipment, including computers, air conditioners, and chairs, had been destroyed, resulting in a loss of about Tk30 lakh.
Fire Service and Awami League leaders and workers said that the fire started when lightning struck the Titus Gas transmission pipe in front of the district Awami League office.
This caused gas to rapidly escape and enter the Awami League office, igniting a fire.
