People in Chuadanga are suffering immensely from the effects of persistent heatwaves which have been sweeping over the district for almost two weeks.
The entire district is burning due to the intense heatwave.
Amid the worsening situation, the district recorded the highest temperature at 42.2°C again on Thursday.
The regional meteorological observatory in Chuadanga recorded the temperature at 3pm.
At that time, the humidity in the air was 14%.
Earlier on Sunday, the same temperature was recorded in the district while 42.3°C was recorded on Saturday afternoon.
Normal life has been disrupted in the scorching heat for several days.
From mid-April, a mild to moderate heatwave was sweeping over the region which has turned into a severe to very severe heatwave recently.
Meanwhile, the surroundings are heated by the severe intensity of the sun.
Low-income and working people in the region including Chudanga are in dire straits.
Besides, construction workers, agricultural workers, easy bike drivers and rickshaw-van drivers are found suffering immensely who no opportunity to stay home for their survival.
The severe heatwave sweeping parts of Bangladesh continued unabated and rain may increase in the northeastern part of the country on Sunday or Monday, said the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
“Severe heatwave is sweeping Khulna division, Dinajpur, Nilphamari, Rajshahi, Pabna, Faridpur, and Gopalgonj distircts. Mild to moderate heatwave is sweeping Barisal division, parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions and Mymensingh, Moulvibazar, Rangamati, Chandpur, Noahkali, Feni, and Bandarban and it may continue,” said a Met office bulletin.
It also issued a warning that the ongoing heatwave may persist for 72 hours starting Thursday morning.
Rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Chittagong and Sylhet divisions with hail at isolated places.
The weather may remain mainly dry with a temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country.
