Heatwave paralyzes Pabna: Temperature soars over 40°C for consecutive days

People in Pabna are experiencing scorching temperatures as mercury has been recorded above 40°C in Pabna for consecutive days.

People's lives have become exhausted. The extreme heat has put the working population in great trouble. Due to the heat, people are unwilling to leave their homes unless it is an emergency.

One person died of heatstroke in Pabna town amid heatwaves.

He suffered heatstroke while having tea at a tea stall on Rupkatha Road in Pabna on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the people around rescued him and took him to Pabna General Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

The deceased Sukumar Das, 60, was a resident of Shalgaria Zakir intersection, Pabna.

Nazmul Haque Ranjan, assistant observer of Ishwardi Meteorological Office, said that, earlier, such a temperature was not recorded in last few years. An intense heatwave is blowing across Ishwardi and surrounding areas. The temperature is likely to rise further.

The maximum temperature of the country cannot be announced now. The details will be given in the evening circular of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department about the information of other districts, he added.
