In a tragic incident, a 26-year-old man committed suicide reportedly after he failed to buy beef for his wife in Jamalpur’s Bokshiganj Upazila.

Hasan Ali was found dead at his house in Banderpar village in Bogar Char around 11am on Friday, police said.

Citing his neighbours, Bokshiganj police station sources said Hasan Ali had had a meal on Thursday night and was supposed to bring home his wife Afroza Begum from her paternal house in the adjoining village.

As he did not go to his in-law’s house to bring Afroza, she returned to his residence and found its door shut from inside.

Bokshiganj police station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Abdul Ahad Khan said: “Peeping through, Sneaking Afroza noticed Hasan hanging from the ceiling of his house.

“She instantly screamed and the news broke in no time.”

On information, the police inspected the site and found a suicide note there. Hasan wrote that he loves his wife a lot and requested his parents to look after her. He mentioned that he took his life failing to buy his wife meat.
