Two gatemen have been suspended over an accident that left six people dead when a train hit a sand-laden truck in Muhuriganj of Feni on Friday.
Besides, an official investigation is underway against Saiful and Md Rashed Khan, the two gatemen, Riton Chakma, deputy assistant engineer of Bangladesh Railway, said on Sunday afternoon.
Two cases have been filed in this connection where the two gatemen are accused, he added.
A six-member investigation committee headed by Anisur Rahman, divisional transport officer (DTO) of Bangladesh Railway, has been formed to find the cause of the accident.
Saiful Islam, divisional railway manager (DRM), said the exact cause behind the accident can be known after investigation.
It is initially believed that the signal bar was not shut at the time of the accident, he added.
The Chittagong-bound mail train hit the sand-laden truck at the crossing adjacent to the Muhuriganj bridge of Feni on the Dhaka-Chittagong railway, leaving six people dead.
