Independence Day: Students carry 64 feet long flag at national memorial

The students come to pay tribute to martyrs every year to keep alive the spirit of the liberation war

Around 200 students in white uniforms marched towards the martyr's memorial, with red and green flags draped over their foreheads and carried a 64-foot-long flag in their hands. 

They were students of Iqbal Siddiqui College, Rajendrapur, Gazipur. 

Every year on Independence and Victory Day, the students of the institute pay their tribute in this way by coming to Savar's National Memorial.

They come to pay tribute every year to keep alive the spirit of the liberation war and to invigorate the love for the martyrs.

Sagarika, a student of class eleven said: “I can enjoy the taste of freedom because of the great liberation war. We have come to pay tribute to the martyrs with the flag obtained in exchange for the blood of lakhs of martyrs.”

Shariful Islam, Sayema ​​Akhtar, Rubel and some other students of that institute said the same thing.

Mathematics teacher of that institution Shamsuddin said: “I have come to pay respect to the martyrs of the great liberation war. Our initiative is to instil the spirit of liberation war and love for freedom fighters among the students. Thus, this trend will continue.”
