Update : 29 Jan 2024, 12:51 PM

Dinajpur is enduring a biting cold weather and dense fog, with the mercury on Monday dropping to as low as 5.7°C.

The harsh weather is severely affecting the low-income population, who, lacking winter clothing and blankets, are finding it difficult to endure the cold.

Even though Dinajpur saw sunlight on Monday, brisk northern winds were causing misery for the locals.

Even on Sunday, the lowest temperature in Dinajpur was 5.3°C.

Meanwhile, many children and elderly have been admitted to hospitals suffering from various diseases including pneumonia, diarrhoea, whooping cough and breathing difficulties.

Doctors and nurses are struggling to provide medical care.

Asaduzzaman Asad, the person in charge of the Dinajpur met office, said there is a possibility of drizzle in the next two days.

Meanwhile, potatoes and seedbeds are becoming prone to spoilage due to fog. If fog persists, there is a possibility of damage to crops, according to farmers.
