Ferry capsize: Second engine master’s body recovered from Padma

The body of the crew who went missing after a ferry capsized, was recovered on Monday from the Bahadurpur area of Harirampur, about 13 km away from the spot.

Fire service personnel recovered the body of Humayun Kabir, second engine master of the Rajanigandha ferry in Paturia upazila of Manikganj, six days after the accident.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Aricha office Deputy General Manager (DGM) Shah Md Khaled Newaz confirmed the matter. 

The body was recovered at 4:30pm, said  Manikganj Fire Service Deputy Assistant Director Abdul Hamid Mia.

On January 17, the ferry with pickup trucks and covered vans capsized on the Daulatdia-Paturia route in the middle of the Padma River in Paturia of Manikganj. Humayun Kabir was the only person on board who went missing.
