Train communication on the Dhaka-Chittagong railway route was snapped over two hours after a lorry overturned on the tracks in Comilla on Thursday morning.
The incident took place at the Bijoypur level crossing on the Chittagong-Noakhali regional highway in Lalmai upazila around 7am.
Liaquat Ali Majumdar, senior assistant engineer of Comilla Railway, said that the accident occurred as the lorry driver lost control over the wheels and the vehicle rammed two CNG-run autorickshaws at the level crossing.
The lorry was removed from the track at 9:20am, he said, adding that Dhaka's rail communication with Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Chandpur and Noakhali has been restored.
Mustafa Kamal, in-charge of Comilla Railway police outpost, said that no casualty was reported in the accident.
However, the lorry and the autorickshaws were severely damaged.
