An allegation has been raised against Awami League-backed candidate Razee Mohammad Fakhrul of Comilla-4 for arranging a secret meeting with presiding officers in Comilla.
The incident reportedly took place in a restaurant in Comilla city on Sunday.
A mobile court with an executive magistrate suddenly raided the restaurant and foiled the meeting.
Sensing danger hearing news of the mobile court, the presiding officers started running.
During a visit to the restaurant, it was found that the college teachers (listed as presiding officers) organized a program under the banner of the year-end get-together meeting by the Debidwar Upazila College Teachers' Association on the third floor of the hotel.
The teachers, who are close to the MP, were invited to the program. The teachers have applied to be presiding officers in the upcoming election.
But MP Razee Mohammad Fakhrul of Comilla-4 (Debidwar) constituency did not come to the meeting as the mobile court raided the hotel.
Noor Mohammad Babu, a lecturer of Devidwar Alhaj Zobayda Khatun Women's University College and also a leader of the College Teachers Association of Debidwar Upazila, came out hurriedly hearing the news of the mobile court’s presence.
However, due to the presence of the magistrate, they could not start the meeting.
Later, the teachers slowly left the venue.
Wishing anonymity, a teacher said that it was supposed that the MP would attend the program.
But the organizers felt sorry that the MP could not come to the event.
Noor Mohammad Babu, one of the teacher leaders, said: "We organized a program for college teachers. There is no political involvement.”
Atish Sarkar, assistant commissioner of the deputy commissioner's office, who led the mobile court, said: "After we arrived at the hotel, the organizers told us that it was a teachers’ association event. But we have asked for the list of concerned teachers. Action will be taken if correct information is not received.”
Denying the allegations, MP Razee Mohammad Fakhrul said that he did not know about it.
He claimed that a vested quarter is spreading misinformation.
