The renowned Kuakata sea beach, fondly known as Sagorkanya (daughter of the sea), witnessed a significant influx of tourists during the two-day official holiday, which included Victory Day.

The influx began on Thursday night, marking a positive turn for Kuakata after a prolonged period of scant tourist presence due to strikes and blockades by the BNP and like-minded parties.

With most hotel and motel rooms already booked, the faces of local businessmen are adorned with smiles. The Tourist Police, along with dedicated volunteers ensuring safety, are actively engaged in securing the overall well-being of the arriving tourists.

Abdul Ali, a beachside umbrella bench trader, highlighted that following the blockade and hartal called by Jamaat-BNP, a considerable number of tourists have flocked to Kuakata.

Motaleb Sharif, the General Secretary of the Kuakata Hotel Motel Owners Association, reported that a substantial number of tourists are arriving to relish their vacation, with almost all hotels boasting significant room bookings.

OC Hasnain Parvez of the Kuakata Tourist Police noted: "Many tourists have arrived since Thursday, and we are actively providing them with our services."

Mayor Anwar Hossain Howladar of Kuakata Municipality said: "Today, we see a notable increase in the number of tourists. Consequently, after a prolonged month and a half, the faces of all tourism businessmen are adorned with smiles."
