The Embassy of Bangladesh in Kathmandu on Sunday night urged Bangladeshi tourists and trekkers to exercise caution while travelling in Nepal amid heavy rainfall, floods and landslides.
The embassy advised travellers to avoid visiting affected areas until weather conditions and the overall situation improve.
It urged particular caution in tourist destinations including Pisang, Chame, Manang and surrounding areas, where continuous rainfall has triggered landslides and snowfall, disrupting road connectivity in several locations. Rescue operations have also been hampered by the rugged terrain and disrupted transport links.
Authorities have suspended trekking activities in several parts of Manang, including routes to Tilicho Lake, Thorong La Pass, Ice Lake, Kang La and Bhimthang.
Travellers have also been advised to exercise caution while visiting Pokhara and surrounding areas, as landslides have disrupted road links and access to nearby trekking destinations.
Those planning to travel to Mustang, Jomsom and other mountainous areas have been advised to check road conditions in Gandaki Province, where routes can be disrupted suddenly.
Bangladeshi citizens planning trekking, mountaineering or travel in mountainous and landslide-prone areas, including Annapurna, Manang, Mustang and Manaslu, have been advised to verify travel information and strictly follow directives issued by the Nepal government and local authorities.
Bangladeshi citizens already in areas vulnerable to such hazards have been advised to stay in safe locations, avoid riverbanks and landslide-prone areas, check road and weather conditions before travelling, and remain in regular contact with their travel operators and the embassy.
The embassy said it is monitoring the situation in coordination with Nepali authorities and will issue further updates as necessary.
