Train communication between the northern part of Bangladesh with Dhaka and southern districts remained suspended since Wednesday afternoon due to the derailment of a freight train in Lalpur upazila of Natore district.
The incident took place at the signal point of Abdulpur junction at around 1pm.
Abdulpur Railway Junction Station Master Master Ziauddin said: “The freight train from Parbatipur to Dhaka derailed behind the junction. One coach derailed, but thankfully, there were no injuries."
The station master mentioned that due to the train derailment on the main line, several trains got stranded at other stations.
The Western Region Railway Authority in Rajshahi and Pakshi have been notified about the situation.
A relief train from Ishwardi left for the place to remove the bogies.
Earlier, a compartment of a Dhaka-bound Rangpur Express train derailed on Tuesday. The incident took place at Gharinda railway station at around 4:40am.
