The bodies of two more Indian citizens, swept away due to the Teesta River's surge following the Chungthang Dam collapse in Sikkim, India, were recovered from Harinchra village in Lalmonirhat.

The bodies were handed over to Indian police personnel after a flag meeting between the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) around 9pm on Friday, confirmed Lalmonirhat Sadar police station Officer-in-charge (OC) Omar Faruk.

Meanwhile, Sub-Inspector Rajendra Tamang, in charge of Dinhata Police Camp in India, informed reporters that hundreds of Indian citizens, including several Indian army personnel, are missing due to the Teesta River protection dam collapse in Sikkim.

A rescue operation in the Teesta River led to the recovery of an Indian army soldier in Nilphamari. The search continues for the others.

OC Omar Faruk reported that local residents spotted two bodies floating in the Teesta River near Harinchara and Sindurna areas of Sadar police station while fishermen were fishing on Friday. Lalmonirhat police recovered the bodies upon arrival.

Upon reporting to the Indian BSF, a flag meeting took place between BSF forces and BGB. After confirmation that the bodies were Indian citizens, BSF's Gitaldaha camp Assistant Commander Pappu Meena and Dinhata police camp Sub-Inspector Rajendra Tamang took custody of the bodies.

Additionally, in the Sindur Na area of Hatibandha police station, another partially decomposed body was found floating in the Teesta River. However, BSF could not confirm whether it was an Indian citizen.
