AKM Shajahan Kamal, the lawmaker representing Lakshmipur-3 and a former minister, died on Saturday morning aged 82.
He breathed his last at 3:19am on Saturday while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital, Lakshmipur Awami League General Secretary Nur Uddin Chowdhary Nayan MP confirmed the matter.
Shajahan Kamal was elected MP from Lakshmipur-3 in 1973, 2014 and 2018.
He served as minister of aviation and tourism in the 10th parliament.
Apart from this, he also served as president of the district Awami League previously.
Lakshmipur Awami League President Golam Farooq Pinku and General Secretary Nur Uddin Chowdhary Nayan expressed grief over the death of the former minister.
His namaz-e-janaza will be held at Lakshmipur Samad school ground after Asr prayers.
